Alice Smith: The Answer to Your Music Woes

On Tuesday, May 16, 2006 I went to Duke City to watch Alice Smith perform, (www.myspace.com/alicesmith). She is an awesome, awesome talent. Her voice is indescribable and totally unique, which in the music industry is very hard to come by.
I am not new to Alice Smith’s music or voice. I was originally hip to her when she was part of Jolie Fuego, a duo that created an eclectic mix of music. She however went solo and started to create her own music (a great thing!). I met Alice for the first time back in November of 2004. I went to her aunt’s house to see her perform for the fist time live. It was just her and Mr. Josephs (the guitar player) and it was a remarkable performance. After words I did an interview with her and got a chance to get into her personality. She’s as breathtakingly unique as her music. She doesn’t take any crap and is not afraid to tell you what she thinks and at the same time she is very warm, welcoming and will give hugs freely. She definitely made an impression on me as a bona fide singer/songwriter and person.
Now back to the concert. Alice performed songs from her up coming album "For Lovers, Dreamers & Me", that will be out in early September. However, those who came to the concert got a promotional copy of the album, which is out of this world. You music fans pick it up when you see it. Her performance once again included just her and Mr. Josephs playing the guitar, so simple, yet so powerful at the same time. What I love about Alice’s voice is that you just never know what note she will hit; her voice is unpredictable in the best way possible. She just loves making music for the sake of music, and you can tell from the passion in her voice when she sings, and how she greats her fans after the show. So please do yourself a favor and check out Alice Smith, it’ll be one of the best things you’ve done this year.
