Common: You're the Love of My Life
I know it has been a minute since I have written anything and I do apologize to you all for this. So what was the last concert I went to you may ask, well let me tell you. On June 17th I finally got the chance to see my all time favorite hip hop artist. Those of you who know me know that it is Common!!! I have been trying to catch this dude forever. The organization Art Creates Life (www.artcreateslife.com) brought Common to Mirrors to perform for their fundraiser. Art Creates Life raised money to send some of their students to Africa. An awesome cause. Now back to Common, ah yes, Common. I got my usually spot right in the front of the stage. When Common came out he stood right in front of me the whole time. The man was so close I could just reach out and touch him. He did not do a full show he started off with "Go", then "Faithful", "Testify", and "The Light". His energy was very high and you could feel the love he has for music from each rhyme that leaped from his mouth. What a beautiful man he is indead. I must admit I was cheesing so much that I couldn't get myself together enough to take photos of him on stage. I did however get control of myself and took some (will post them at a later time, sorry :). As I sit here and write a big smile comes across my face. Common if you are reading this, thanks for coming down to DC. I truly needed that!
